Rebel Mariposa is a Yanaguana-based (indigenous name of San Antonio), Two-Spirit Tejana with a passion for ancestral healing through food, art, and activism. Her work in the food scene in Tejas —including founding the restaurant and community space, La Botánica—have received recognition by city and state representatives, as well as the local and national media. La Botánica was the first Texas vegan restaurant to open with a full bar and venue. In Oct of 2020, La Botanica was forced to close due to the COVID pandemic that hit the food industry so hard. The spirit, food and drinks of La Botanica stay alive through catering, classes and pop-ups events throughout the Yanaguana region.
